This Privacy Policy explains how the Engraved mobile application (“Engraved”, “the app”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use it. Engraved is built to be private by design: it works offline, requires no account, and keeps your data on your device. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the app.
Summary
- Engraved does not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number to use the app.
- Your memorization data (the verses you study, custom verses, review history, streaks, and settings) is stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
- The current version of the app contains no third-party analytics and no advertising.
- The only information processed off your device relates to optional in-app purchases, which are handled by Google Play and our purchase-verification provider, and to features you choose to use that rely on Google services.

Scope of this policy
This policy applies to the Engraved Android application distributed through the Google Play Store. It does not apply to third-party services, websites, or platforms that Engraved may link to or rely on, each of which is governed by its own privacy policy (see “Third-party services” below).
Information we collect
We have designed Engraved to minimize the information that ever leaves your device.
Information you provide in the app. You may add custom verses, choose a translation, set a daily reminder, and adjust preferences. This information is stored only on your device. We do not receive it.
Information stored locally on your device. Engraved stores your study and progress data, including the verses in your library, custom verses you add by reference, your review and grading history, streaks, the activity heatmap, retention figures, and your settings. This data is held in local app storage on your device and is not transmitted to us.
Purchase information. Engraved Plus is an optional upgrade. If you choose to purchase it, the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing. We never receive or store your payment card details. To determine and restore your entitlement (whether Engraved Plus is active), the app uses a purchase-management provider, RevenueCat. For this purpose, RevenueCat receives a non-personal, app-generated identifier and your purchase and subscription status. This identifier is not your name or contact information and is not used to advertise to you.
Information from optional features. Some features rely on services provided by Google as part of the Android platform, for example read-aloud playback (on-device text-to-speech) and the in-app update and in-app review prompts. Your use of these features is subject to Google’s terms and privacy practices.
Information you send to us directly. If you contact us by email, we will receive the information you choose to include in your message and will use it solely to respond to you.
Information we do not collect
In the current version of the app, we do not:
- require an account or collect your name, email address, or phone number through the app;
- use third-party analytics or tracking software;
- serve advertisements or use advertising identifiers;
- collect your contacts, location, photos, camera, or microphone data;
- sell or rent personal information to anyone.
How we use information
Because your study data stays on your device, we do not use it. We use the limited information described above only to:
- provide and operate the app and its features;
- verify and restore your Engraved Plus entitlement through Google Play and RevenueCat;
- deliver the optional daily reminder you schedule; and
- respond to you if you contact us for support.
How your data is stored and retained
Your in-app data is stored locally on your device and remains there until you remove it. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling Engraved deletes that data from your device. Because this information lives only on your device, we cannot access, retrieve, restore, export, or delete it on your behalf. We do not operate a server that stores your study content.
Records held by Google Play and RevenueCat in connection with a purchase are retained according to those providers’ own policies.
Permissions
Engraved requests only the permissions it needs:
- Notifications, used to deliver the optional daily reminder you set. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device, and no reminder content passes through our servers. You can turn reminders off in the app or in your device settings at any time.
- Run at startup, used solely to re-arm a scheduled local reminder after your device restarts, so a reminder you set is not lost.
Engraved does not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, camera, or photos.
Third-party services
Engraved relies on a small number of third-party services for specific functions. When you use those functions, the relevant provider’s privacy policy applies:
- Google Play / Google Play Billing, for app distribution and processing purchases.
- RevenueCat, for verifying and restoring purchases and entitlements.
- Google Play Services, for the optional in-app update and in-app review features, and on-device text-to-speech.
We encourage you to review these providers’ privacy policies for details on how they handle data.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the app and the limited information it processes. Because your study data is stored locally, its security also depends on the security of your device. You are responsible for protecting your device, for example with a passcode or biometric lock. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You remain in control of your data:
- You can view and manage your verses, progress, and settings directly in the app.
- You can delete your in-app data at any time by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling Engraved.
- You can disable reminders in the app or in your device settings.
- You can manage or cancel an Engraved Plus subscription in the Google Play Store.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws, such as the right to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to object to certain processing. Because we do not hold your personal study data, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device. For any request relating to information we do process, contact us using the details below.
Children’s privacy
Engraved is intended for a general audience and is content-rated for everyone. It is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app requires no account and collects no personal information, no personal information about a child is gathered through ordinary use. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
International users
Engraved is offered from the developer’s location and may be used in other countries. Where third-party providers such as Google or RevenueCat process limited purchase-related information, that information may be processed in countries other than your own, subject to those providers’ safeguards and policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date shown at the top of this page, and any material change will be reflected in the app or its store listing. Your continued use of Engraved after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
